_{Atomic Bomb dome in central Hiroshima. The title refers to the way many of the witness accounts described the flash of light as the atomic bomb exploded - comparing it to that of a magnesium flame.}

Seeing this building in person was for me a very eye opening experience. Everyone that can should go to Hiroshima, and dedicate time to visiting this site and the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum.

I dont think ive ever been hassled so much to sign a petition in my life than in hiroshima! shows how much impact it still has now and will continue to have. the 1000 cranes was an inspiring story I think ^^ i loved all the different ones from school kids around the world.

was the most bizarre and sad experience being there.

Still such a beautiful building. (and great shot of it)
I still can't believe that that blast could not take it down.
Oh and increasing the contrast will only lessen the detail on the building, so what you can it fine ><

This building was almost directly underneath the bomb itself, and I'm assuming as the blast radiated outwards instead of up and down, it was spared some of the full force. Pretty much everything else was flattened!
